The primary objective of this research is to examine the interactions between clients and therapists during the implementation of telepsychology. Additionally, this study aims to analyze how these experiences might contribute to the enhancement of existing telepsychology guidelines. Telepsychology has gained significant popularity, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the global epidemic prompted an unforeseen and immediate shift for both individuals seeking therapy and the professionals providing therapeutic services. In light of the widespread adoption of telepsychology as a prominent therapeutic approach, it is crucial to revise the current recommendations to optimize therapists' capacity to adeptly navigate the distinct obstacles encountered by clients inside the realm of online treatment.
The qualitative data were analyzed using a combination of Scopus review and thematic analysis design. A selection of 10 articles has been made according to the established criteria. The analysis of the data was conducted using MAXQDA software. The findings derived from the qualitative data indicate that there was a consensus between the clients and therapists regarding many significant aspects related to their encounters with telepsychology. These include the therapeutic relationship, technology, distraction, privacy, regulations, transition, security, and safety. Meanwhile, clients predominantly articulate emotional concerns, a sense of curiosity, the convenience factor, and a desire to sustain therapy. On the other hand, therapists' experiences are marked by considerations of professional competence, genuine care for the client's challenges, and a focus on the physical dimension of therapy. This study examines the topics pertaining to the experiences of both clients and therapists in respect to the defined criteria of telepsychology. The themes encompass standard care, competence, confidentiality, security, and interjurisdictional practice.
