Anjali Malik, Neeta Sinha, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, India

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a one-week strengths-based intervention on subjective well-being among nursing students. Participants (N = 108) were assigned to either an experimental group (N=54) or a control group (N=54) and completed baseline measurements. The experimental group participated in a two-session intervention focused on character strengths and positive psychology, with instructions to practice the exercises over the course of a week, while the control group received no treatment. Afterward, the questionnaires were administered again. The results indicated a statistically significant improvement in life satisfaction and positive emotions within the experimental group, though no changes were observed in strength use or negative emotions. In contrast, the control group showed no significant changes. These findings emphasise the effectiveness of strengths-based interventions in enhancing well-being, especially in light of the growing mental health challenges.
